Can a Florida Notary Notarize Out-of-State Documents?

Can a Florida Notary Public notarize documents from or intended for use in another state?

Yes! As a Florida-commissioned Notary Public and registered Remote Online Notary (RON), I can notarize eligible documents originating from or intended for use in states other than Florida.

Your document does not have to originate in Florida, and it does not have to be intended for use in Florida.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Your location: You can be located in another U.S. state or even outside the United States, provided you meet the requirements for remote online notarization.

  • My location: Florida law requires me, as your Remote Online Notary, to be physically located within the state of Florida when performing the notarization.

  • Your documents: Documents intended for use in another state may be notarized remotely, provided they are eligible for online notarization and the receiving party accepts the completed notarization.

  • The notarization process: All remote online notarizations must be completed through an approved online notarization platform with the required identity verification and live audio-video communication.

Important: Some documents, institutions, or receiving agencies may have specific notarization requirements. I recommend confirming that the receiving party will accept a Florida remote online notarization before scheduling your appointment.

The bottom line: Your document doesn't have to be from Florida or intended for use in Florida. However, I must be physically located in Florida when performing your remote online notarization.
