Hospital, Nursing Home & Care Facility Notary Services

Can you notarize documents for someone who is elderly, hospitalized, or in a care facility?

Yes. B. Elise Notary Services provides Mobile Notary services for signers in locations such as:

  • Hospitals
  • Rehabilitation centers
  • Nursing homes
  • Assisted living facilities
  • Hospice facilities
  • Private residences

However, scheduling an appointment does not guarantee that the notarization can be completed.

At the time of the appointment, the signer must be able to communicate with the Notary, demonstrate awareness of the transaction, and indicate that they are signing willingly and without coercion.

The Notary must communicate directly with the signer and make the required assessment at the time of the appointment. Family members, caregivers, or facility staff cannot answer for the signer.

Before scheduling, please also confirm that:

  • The signer has acceptable identification or that another legally permitted identification method can be arranged.
  • The document is ready for signing and has not already been signed if the applicable notarial act requires the signature to occur in the Notary's presence.
  • Any required witnesses will be available. Witness coordination may be requested in advance for an additional fee.
  • The facility permits the Notary to visit and any applicable visitor requirements have been addressed.

If the signer is unable to demonstrate the necessary awareness or willingness at the appointment, the notarization will not be performed.
