The vehicle does not necessarily need to be running, but it must be accessible and in a condition that allows the required information to be inspected.

During a VIN Verification appointment, B. Elise Notary Services must physically inspect information on the vehicle, including the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and the odometer reading when required for the applicable form or transaction.

If the vehicle has a dead battery or no electrical power and the odometer is displayed electronically, the mileage may not be visible. This can prevent the required inspection or form from being completed.

Before scheduling your appointment, please make sure:

• The vehicle is accessible for inspection.
• The VIN can be physically located and clearly read.
• The vehicle has sufficient electrical power to display the odometer when an odometer reading is required.
• Any areas of the vehicle that must be inspected are accessible.

A vehicle does not have to be drivable simply to schedule an inspection, but if required information cannot be physically verified at the appointment, the verification may not be completed.
