What If All Signers Cannot Attend the Notary Appointment?

What if all signers cannot be present?

All signers do not necessarily have to be present at the same appointment.

However, each person whose signature is being notarized must personally appear before the Notary Public for their individual notarization. Depending on the type of notarization, personal appearance may take place in person or through an authorized Remote Online Notarization (RON) session.

If multiple signers cannot attend together, separate appointments may be scheduled when appropriate.

Before scheduling separate appointments, we recommend confirming with the document preparer or receiving party that the document may be signed and notarized separately. Some transactions may have specific signing instructions that must be followed.

A Notary Public cannot notarize a person's signature if that individual does not personally appear as required for the notarial act.
