Some documents require one or more witnesses in addition to notarization.
Witness requirements vary depending on the type of document, the applicable law, and the instructions provided with the document. It is the signer's responsibility to determine whether witnesses are required and what qualifications those witnesses must meet.
If your document requires witnesses and you do not have your own, B. Elise Notary Services may be able to coordinate witnesses for an additional fee, subject to availability. Please request witness coordination in advance so arrangements can be made before your appointment.
For Remote Online Notarization (RON), additional requirements may apply to witnesses participating electronically.
Because a Notary Public cannot provide legal advice or determine the legal requirements for your document, questions about whether your document requires witnesses or who may legally serve as a witness should be directed to the document preparer, receiving party, or a licensed attorney.
