What ID Is Accepted for Florida Remote Online Notarization?

What types of identification are accepted for Remote Online Notarization?

For Florida Remote Online Notarization (RON), acceptable identification may include government-issued identification credentials permitted under Florida law, such as:

  • Florida or other U.S. state-issued driver's license or identification card
  • U.S. passport
  • Qualifying foreign passport
  • Driver's license or identification card issued by Canada or Mexico
  • U.S. Armed Forces identification
  • Veteran Health Identification Card
  • Identification card issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
  • Other identification specifically permitted under Florida law

For most qualifying identification credentials, the document must be current or have been issued within the past five years and contain a serial or other identifying number. Online Sunshine

For RON, presenting identification is only one part of the identity-verification process. Unless you are personally known to the Online Notary, Florida requires remote presentation of the identification credential, credential analysis, and identity proofing that meets Florida requirements. If those requirements cannot be successfully completed, the online notarization cannot proceed. Online Sunshine

Foreign nationals and signers located outside the United States may be subject to different identification procedures. A signer located outside the United States may use a qualifying foreign-government passport without the U.S. immigration stamp otherwise referenced in Florida's general identification statute.
